This is a  community for  researchers looking for family and a better understanding of African American History.
The advantages of being a member of this community:

* Access to professional Genealogists  specializing in African American Genealogy and History
* Access to our  "bring us out of the darkness" African  American Genealogy database featuring ex slaves alive 1895 to 1955  including some biographical schetches and obituries. Opportunity to be a part of building this database.  The research you submit belongs to you!  We only ask to list it in the database citing you as the researcher.

There are many comprehensive African American websites which we will feature in our site.  It is not our intent to duplicate their work or to compete with what they are doing.  Our purpose is to do three things:

1.  Offer classes in research.
2.  Offer access to our former slave database.
3.  Allow for dialog between members to furthur research.
