John Kelly born in Ireland was a shoemaker that formed the John Kelly Shoe company in Rochester NY in 1874.  The same year his son Frank Kelly was born Frank would start working for his Father in 1892.  The Kelly company was one of the larger manufacturing companies in Rochester.  History of Rochester and Monroe County Vol 2 by William Peck
